TelephonyData.net

Release 2026.10 · updated Oct 29, 2026

Know where a number rings before you dial it.

A relational matrix of every NANP phone prefix, ZIP code, coordinate, IANA time zone and line type, delivered as a database you host yourself or a token-authenticated REST API.

Example response · GET /api/v1/lookup/phone/{number}

In-process lookup
<1 ms

Your network shouldn't wait on someone else's.

Third-party lookup APIs add 50–300 ms of network latency to every dial decision, and an outage on their side halts your dialer. Load our matrix into your own PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server and the same answer comes back from an indexed primary-key read in well under a millisecond.

Latency per lookup

On-premise TelephonyData matrix0.05–0.4 ms
TelephonyData API (same region)5–25 ms
Typical external carrier-lookup API80–300 ms

On-premise figure is a local primary-key read; network figures are round-trip and vary by region.

Spatially resolved time zones

Census ZIP centroids are matched with PostGIS ST_Contains against IANA boundary polygons, with 5-mile coastal snapping.

Wireless vs. landline

Line type at the NPA-NXX and pooled thousands-block level, derived from NANPA assignee carriers.

P.O. Box & unique ZIPs healed

Non-geographic ZIPs inherit coordinates and zone from their post office's nearest geographic neighbor.

Calling-window checks

TCPA 8 a.m.–9 p.m. local time plus stricter state statutes such as FL, OK, TX and RI.

Built from the public record

Every release is rebuilt from source and refuses to publish if structural checks fail.

  1. 1 · U.S. Census Bureau

ZCTA internal points, land area, and 2020 ZCTA-to-place / county relationship files.

  2. 2 · IANA tz boundaries

Olson zone polygons from timezone-boundary-builder, normalized to WGS 84 (EPSG:4326).

  3. 3 · NANPA

Assigned central office codes, rate center names and pooled thousands-block assignments.

  4. 4 · USPS

ZIP Locale Detail for every delivery ZIP, including P.O. Box and unique-organization codes.
